Europol Expert Confirms That Monero cannot be traced
We’ve had lots of arguments on whether transactions on Monero (XMR) could be traced. A lot of people had fears about the effectiveness of the platform and we are glad to inform you that this case has been brought to rest by Jerek Jakubcek.
Jerek Jakubcek who is a strategy analyst at Europol made the revelation in a blockchain webinar recently.
According to him, “Because the suspect used a combination of Tor and Monero, we could not trace the transactions. We could not trace the IP addresses. Which means we ran into a wall.”
He also revealed that the transactions were traced while it was still active on the Bitcoin Blockchain but it disappeared immediately the funds entered the Monero Blockchain.
This goes a long way to prove that unlike Bitcoin and Ethereum blockchain that users can trace their transactions, Monero transactions are completely protected and untraceable.
